What the work actually is
EV charging work sits between electrical contracting and software. A typical project runs from a site assessment and load calculation, through permitting and utility coordination, to trenching, mounting, commissioning and getting the units talking to a network back end.
The unglamorous parts decide whether a site works: conduit runs, service capacity, load management configuration and what happens when a charger goes offline at 6am. People who enjoy that detail do well.
Quick Charge Express would rather hire someone who asks an awkward question in the interview than someone who agrees with everything. The awkward question usually turns out to be the one that mattered.
Who tends to do well here
Electricians who want to work on something newer than panel swaps. People comfortable talking to a utility, a landlord and a driver in the same afternoon. Anyone who treats uptime as a promise rather than a metric.
How hiring works here
Tell us your licence status, what you have installed, and where you can work. That is most of the screening. The rest is a conversation about actual sites.
What we will and will not promise
We will tell you the truth about the role before you take it: the travel, the on-call expectation, the paperwork, and the parts of the job that are genuinely tedious. Every job has some. Pretending otherwise just produces a resignation in month four.
We will invest in training where it makes you better at the work, and we will pay for the certifications the job actually requires rather than leaving them to you.
What we will not do is promise a title track or a salary band we cannot yet support. A small company that over-promises on progression is buying your goodwill on credit.
Practical things worth knowing
The team at Quick Charge Express is small, which cuts both ways: there is no layer of management between you and a decision, and there is nobody to hide behind when something goes wrong.
Expect to be trusted with a vehicle, a toolkit and a schedule fairly quickly, and to be accountable for all three. Autonomy arrives earlier here than at a large employer, and so does responsibility.
Most of our work is scheduled, but equipment fails when it fails. There is a real on-call component and we would rather you hear that now.
